Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign gathered some prominent congressional surrogates to denounce Barack Obama for employing an adviser who called the former First Lady a "monster," and the campaign called on Obama to fire his prominent foreign policy aide.
"Personal attacks are not the way to convince voters that you're capable of being president of the United States," said Rep. NIta Lowey (D-NY), a Clinton supporter. "We're calling on Sen. Obama to make it very clear that Samantha Powers should not be a part of his campaign." (Link)
This is getting pretty ridiculous. Samantha Powers was dumb to say what she did. But who with half a brain is going to buy your line that Power's comments must also represent Barack Obama's feelings?
Jeez, Senator Clinton, this is starting to look like pro wrestling here. Lots of drama, hammy acting and over exaggerated responses to what all observing can plainly see are pulled punches and minor blows.
Suck it up Senator. Is this what you think is "tough enough" to be President of the United States? What are you going to do if you're elected, call for the firing of anyone who calls you a bad name?
Are we a Republic ruled by the people? Or are we an empire, with subjects who can be manipulated at will by the most callow, powerhungry zealots imaginable?
We'll have the answer to that when we have an officially-nominated Democratic candidate for President. Yes, it should be pretty obvious "to anyone with half a brain" which is which. But the whole point of the 50%+1 Strategy is to sideline those people, eliminate them from the equation, drive them away so they go home and watch Survivor reruns like good little consumers.
